The best herbs, flowers and roots for a purifying and balancing cleanse, are all mixed together in this organic botanical steam. These ingredients are specifically chosen for oily and combination skin. 

We combined Juniper Berries, Raspberry Leaves, Elder Flower, Nettles Leaves and Witch Hazel Leaves, for their astringent qualities and abilities to normalise sebum production, the skin's own protective oil, as well as their antimicrobial qualities and purifying properties.

The gentle heat will help with opening your pores, allowing to remove blockages for a deep cleanse, whilst the steam will carry the purifying, calming and balancing nutrients of this botanical mixture to your skin.

TIP: strain the water and pour in a clean bottle. It will keep in the fridge for a few days to use as floral water with your face/body mask.

Recycling: this pouch and zip is made from plant materials only and should not be added to paper recycling. It is 100% biodegradable and home compostable.


Elderflower

This flower that many know from cordials and other drinks, is also one of the most used plants for folk remedies and medicine. A staple in many hedgerows throughout Europe, it was venerated as a magical tree. In a publication from 1644, dedicated to the virtues of this tree, it is praised as 'a poor person's medicine chest'.

While we add this for it's calming and soothing functions, its uses vary from the relief of pain, swelling and inflammation, to stimulating urine production and as a diuretic. It's low in calories but high in a variety of antioxidants.

Beware though, it should not be taken orally in its raw form.

Juniper Berries

These berries come from the evergreen shrub know as the juniper tree, which grows all over the northern hemisphere. Used for medicinal purposes for centuries, there is strong evidence from several studies that it is effective as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal agent. This makes it a good candidate for use in skin calming treatments.

Its historical traditional use is manifold, and it's found in references as far back as Egyptian times. It's often been used for cleansing and purifying, as well as to restore and energise.

Avoid this berry when pregnant.

Nettle Leaves

Careful! Nettle leaves can.... help your skin in many ways! In topical applications it can help to suppress inflammation and bring relieve to dermatitis and arthritis. It has the ability to block histamine receptors, stopping cells from releasing the chemicals which can trigger allergic reactions.

This plant is chuckful of mineral such as magnesium, phosporous, silicon and lots of iron and calcium. It has astringent properties which can help in reducing the oil secretion of oily skins.

Raspberry Leaves

Not as juicy as the berries produced by this plant, red raspberry leaves still have an important role to play. Having been used for centuries in traditional medicine, these leaves are packed with various nutrients and antioxidants.

Vitamin A and retinoid derivatives in this leaf can help stimulate cell turnover, increasing elastin and collagen production. This can assist the skin's firmness by clearing and shrinking pores. Vitamin C is also helpful to boost overall skin health and help reduce excess sebum production.

Witch Hazel

This is a shrub that is native to North America. It has a long tradition of use by native American healers. Research into the workings of this shrub indicates it has potential relieve inflammation, for the treatment of inflamed, irritated or broken skin and can be used to reduce acne.

This botanical powerhouse is often recommended to use for treating combination & oily skin, as its soothing and astringent properties can be very beneficial.
